Objective
This project combined two objectives: to graphically interpret a creature by translating its traits into a stylized visual form, balancing natural meaning with expressive abstraction, and to communicate the meaning of a chosen phrase within set limitations. The work emphasized strong geometry, core design principles, and visual problem-solving, highlighting how type, image, and form work together to convey content.

Visual Sketching

Out of every pose, only the side profile seemed to meet the criteria of legibly portraying a flamingo and illustrating the creature's iconic stance.
Ultimately, the side view with a head turn proved to be the stronger direction, as it was instantly recognizable as a flamingo and conveyed more dynamism with its elegant posture. To enhance clarity and refinement, the stance was designed to stand tall with one leg raised, emphasizing both legibility and character.
Final Creature

The final product closely followed the direction established in the sketching phase, carrying over the strong geometric balance and recognizable posture of the flamingo. The most notable change from the last sketch to the final was the addition of the eye, which gave the mark more clarity and subtle character. This refinement helped the design feel more polished and unified, resulting in a cohesive final mark that stayed true to the original intent.
Objective II
In continuation of the assignment, a phrase was paired with the creature to create a unified design. The final phrase, “Dripping in pink, beauty like royalty,” captures the flamingo’s graceful stance and vibrant elegance, highlighting its distinctive character and regal presence.

Final II

The final Creature Mark, featuring the phrase, employs strong contrast between type and form, guided by the golden ratio to achieve balance and visual harmony. The result is a cohesive composition that feels refined and well-structured.
